Who is Habiba?

Habiba’s journey into journalism began after university when she interned for ELLE magazine, Dazed & Confused, and The Sunday Times. This was her first experience learning how to pitch and tailor her writing to a target audience.

She then began freelance writing for numerous publications such as British Vogue, Refinery29 UK, inews, Black Ballad, Gal Dem, MTV, Paper Mag, and various other publications. In 2021, she landed a job as a lifestyle reporter at HuffPost UK. Here, Habiba wrote short and long-form articles on topics including health, sex/relationships, fashion, beauty, race, gender, and internet culture.

Though Habiba has written about a variety of topics she specialises in writing about race, gender, beauty, and internet culture. Outside of journalism, you can find her speaking about her favourite books on Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.

She has also started a series on TikTok called ‘Rolling Through The Archives’ where she highlights some of the articles she’s written. Here she explains what inspired her to write those pieces, how she would change those articles if she wrote them today and the response/feedback she received from those articles.
